Partner University Retires June 15 and Major Program Changes: June 2026 Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program Update
Microsoft has released its June 2026 monthly update for the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program (MAICPP), and it contains some of the most significant structural changes partners have seen this year. From the final retirement of Partner University to sweeping certification replacements and a new audit-based model for security specializations, partners who fail to act in the next 72 hours risk losing qualification pathways and competitive positioning.
This article breaks down every critical change, the exact deadlines, and what Cloud Factory partners need to do immediately.
Partner University Final Retirement: June 15, 2026
After years of warnings, Partner University is retiring permanently on June 15, 2026. This is not an extension — this is the last deadline.
What Partners Need to Know Immediately
- No new user linkings after June 15, 2026. If your team has not linked their Partner University assessments to their Learn profiles by this date, that pathway closes forever.
- Existing linkings honored until June 2027. Partners already linked will continue to receive credit and skilling scores for another year.
- After June 2027, all Partner University assessments are fully retired. No reporting, no skilling score calculation, no program recognition.
- New skilling requirements are coming. Microsoft is introducing a new set of skilling requirements that will operate as an OR condition alongside existing Partner University assessments during the transition period.
Critical action for partners: Audit your team's Partner University status today. Anyone with unlinked assessments must complete the linking process before midnight UTC on June 15.
Massive Certification Overhaul: June and July 2026
June and July 2026 bring the largest wave of certification changes in recent Microsoft partner history. Dozens of certifications are retiring, with new AI-focused replacements taking their place.

Important Rule: Transition Grace Period
Skilling achieved prior to retirement remains valid for one year. Partners who earned the retiring certifications will maintain credit until the certification's natural expiration. However, new enrollments and renewals must use the replacement certifications after the effective dates.
Adoption and Change Management Specialization Retires June 25
The Adoption and Change Management specialization will be retired on June 25, 2026. Rather than maintaining a standalone specialization, Microsoft is embedding adoption and change management capabilities within product-aligned specializations.
Impact: Partners currently enrolled retain their specialization until their anniversary date. New enrollments and renewals will not be accepted after June 25.
Three Major Specialization Mergers Announced
Microsoft is merging six existing specializations into three new consolidated offerings:
1. Analytics on Microsoft Azure
- Merges: Analytics on Microsoft Azure + Data Warehouse Migration to Microsoft Azure + Business Intelligence- Transition: Partners enrolled in Analytics or Data Warehouse Migration automatically enrolled in new merged specialization with same anniversary date
2. Agentic Business Solutions
- Merges: Low Code Application Development + Intelligent Automation- Transition: Partners enrolled in either specialization automatically enrolled with same anniversary date
3. App Modernization on Microsoft Azure
- Merges: Kubernetes on Microsoft Azure + Migrate Enterprise Applications to Microsoft Azure- Transition: Partners enrolled in either specialization automatically enrolled with same anniversary date
Strategic note: The "Agentic Business Solutions" naming is significant. Microsoft is explicitly branding the merged specialization around agentic AI, not traditional low-code development. This signals a fundamental shift in how Microsoft views the Power Platform and Copilot Studio ecosystem.
Security Specializations Moving to Audit Model (July 2026)
Starting July 2026, all four Microsoft Security Specializations will move to an audit-based model:
- Cloud Security
- Data Security
- Identity & Access Management
- Threat Protection
What Changes
- Third-party audit replaces the current customer reference requirement
- Audit validates real customer delivery of Microsoft Security solutions
- Partner-funded — the audit is paid for by the partner
- Every two years — ongoing recertification cycle
- Pass or No Pass result (including if the partner withdraws)
- Six-month extension to anniversary date to allow preparation time
How Partners Should Prepare Now
- Identify subject matter experts within your organization who can source required audit artifacts
- Review the four Security Specialization pages on Partner Center
- Prepare documentation of customer deployments, outcome metrics, and solution architecture
- Budget for audit costs in FY27 planning
Microsoft 365 Copilot Specialization Updates (July 2026)
The Microsoft Copilot specialization is being renamed to Microsoft 365 Copilot specialization and updated with new requirements:
Changes Effective July 2026
- Performance measurement: Now measures paid Microsoft 365 Copilot monthly active usage (MAU) only
- Certification requirements updated:
- Removed: MS-102 (Administrator Expert)
- Removed: APL-4002 (Prepare security and compliance for Copilot)
- Removed: APL-7008 (Create custom agents with Copilot Studio)
- Added: Agentic AI Business Solutions Architect (AB-100)
- Added: AI Agent Builder Associate (AB-620)
- Customer references replaced with third-party capabilities audit
- Audit remains valid for two years
Strategic implication: The removal of the MS-102 and Copilot Studio applied skills in favor of agent-focused certifications reinforces Microsoft's direction toward agentic AI development as the core partner competency around Copilot.
