Microsoft has rolled out a welcome UI update to Partner Center that gives partners clear visibility into their baseline Monthly Consumed Value (MCV) status for the Solutions Partner Designation (SPD) for Business Applications.

This is a practical improvement that addresses a real pain point — until now, partners had no straightforward way to see whether they had met the required baseline MCV threshold. That threshold is the gateway to earning usage growth points, which play a key role in attaining or renewing the Business Applications designation.

What Is Baseline MCV and Why Does It Matter?

MCV represents the value of Microsoft cloud services being actively used by your customers. In the Business Applications designation, MCV feeds into the usage growth metric — essentially measuring whether a partner is driving meaningful, ongoing customer adoption of Business Applications solutions.

Here is the critical point: if you do not meet the baseline MCV requirement, you cannot earn usage growth points at all. Missing this threshold can block you from attaining or maintaining your designation, regardless of how well you perform on other metrics.

What Has Changed?

The usage growth panel in Partner Center now includes:

- Your baseline MCV value — clearly displayed
- A status indicator — showing whether the requirement is met, based on your track

This is a UI-only update. No calculations or requirements have changed. Microsoft has simply made the information visible that was previously hidden behind the scenes.

What Should Partners Do?

If you hold or are working towards a Business Applications SPD, head over to Partner Center and check your updated usage growth panel. Now you can monitor your baseline MCV status at a glance and take action if you are falling short — before it impacts your designation.

A small change, but one that removes unnecessary guesswork from the designation process.
